Scratch-off labels have become a high value ,high growth product that just about every household is aware of.  It is a very smart and versatile type of label that serves a wide variety of uses.  In its most obvious form the scratch-off system is used for concealment of information such as in the case  lottery labels where the ink is scratched off to reveal what is underneath it.

Other labels are used for interactive engagement that creates an interactive experience for the uses. This can be for promotional campaigns, hidden messages or some form of game.  Common applications for promotional use for businesses can include giveaways, discounts and special offers that can provide codes and prizes etc.  Scratch-off cards are widely known for their use as lottery tickets and most educational establishments as well as many other businesses use them for fund raising events, raffles any many lottery style games.  If you have any type of debit or credit card scratch-off inks are used for security purposes and of course for other activation codes on gift cards for example.

In terms of manufacturing scratch -off cards can be produced on flexo, screen printing and digital/flexo  hybrid presses. The process involves printing the image to be covered then applying a release varnish or a clear laminate before over printing with one of three common scratch off inks that include silver, gold and black currently.

In most cases you will need both hot forced air and UV lamps to cure the water based inks and UV release coatings. For assured release applying a thin laminate clear material is highly recommended.
