• Stainless brushes are the best brush for optimal cleaning of ceramic anilox rolls and other hardened surfaces.  Because the bristles are the exact diameter necessary to dislodge debris from the anilox cells and also because stainless steel does not abrade and leave particles of steel in the anilox roll cells. These brushes are offered with plastic or wooden handles. Plastic handles are generally preferred over the wooden handles to avoid the swelling sometimes associated with wooden handles.  You may want to buy some Rejuvenator Gel to help remove dried ink, glue or other coatings from the cells.

Maintaining Anilox Rolls in Digital Printing Presses

These brushes are the optimal brushes for cleaning digital anilox rolls.  Many of the new digital presses contain one or more anilox units.  These anilox rolls need periodic cleaning just like  traditional anilox rolls.  Although the digital anilox rolls may have a different appearance or may not even be visible inside the machine, they are still anilox rolls.  The cleaning and maintenance requirements are very similar to the traditional anilox units.  If the anilox rolls are out of site inside the digital machine does not mean they should be out of mind.  These rolls still have the laser engraved cells which will fill with dried ink, glue, or UV Coatings.  As the cells become plugged the quality and consistency of the output will degrade.
